Description We are seeking a skilled machinist to join our team,
specializing in hands-on machining, minor edits, and setup of 3, 4,
5 axis mills, lathes, and Swiss machines. The role requires the
ability to accurately read drawings and specifications, with an
understanding of geometric tolerances and dimensions.
Responsibilities Perform hands-on machining, minor edits, and setup
of various mills, lathes, and Swiss machines. Read and interpret
drawings and specifications with an understanding of geometric
tolerances and dimensions. Utilize tool holders, cutting tools,
boring bars, and inserts effectively. Apply mathematical skills
including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division,
geometry, and algebra to calculate material. Set priorities and
efficiently advance projects to achieve customer and quality
objectives. Work independently and follow through with assignments
with minimal supervision. Adhere to safety and quality standards,
reporting and correcting all issues. Calculate dimensions or
tolerances using instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining
process. Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition and
ensure cleanliness. Solve out-of-tolerance parts, quality issues,
or other problems by adjusting the machine or seeking assistance.
Meet or exceed productivity and scrap goals while maintaining
accurate counts of parts and completing documentation. Suggest and
implement ideas to improve safety, quality, cost, and on-time
delivery. Demonstrate regular attendance and punctuality, and work
overtime as required. Essential Skills Proficiency in reading and
interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
callouts. Knowledge of precision measuring instruments such as
calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, and scales.
Adaptability to changing environments and ability to deal with
frequent change, delays, or unexpected events. Critical thinking
and advanced decision-making skills. Mechanical aptitude and
ability to identify different materials related to design (form,
fit, and function). Ability to read, comprehend, follow, and
document work instructions, blueprints, routers, and standard
operating procedures. Effective communication and interaction
skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with CNC or
applicable machines. Preferred experience in an ISO/FDA job shop.
Ability to lift 25 lbs and wear protective safety equipment.
Reaction time to quickly respond to machine malfunctions. Specific
vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision,
color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus
adjustment. Ability to concentrate on tasks for extended periods
without distraction. Work Environment The machinist role is
situated within a manufacturing plant environment, where the noise
level is usually moderate. Employees are required to wear common
protective equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing
protection. The work schedule is flexible with shifts available
during weekdays and weekends, including both day and night shifts.
Compliance with 5S and safe work environment practices is

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Athens, AL. Pay
and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $42.00/hr.
