In this role, you will help sustain Mennel’s tradition of
excellence established in 1886 as well as support our food safety
programs and mission to reliably deliver superior quality,
uniformity, and service. The Corporate Engineering Manager -
Milling is responsible for overseeing the capex project planning
and budgeting process, facility maintenance and reliability
improvement, maintaining automation and electrical systems and
project execution at the plant level within the Milling division.
PRIMARY WORK SHIFT: Monday through Friday 8AM – 5PM. Can vary,
depending on workload. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To
perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to

Safety Initiative, the US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act as

Environmental (HSE) and attend all required training sessions.
Maintain the department/facility in an everyday audit ready
condition. The Engineering Manager will take ownership of the
planning, development, execution, and management of various
projects and continuous improvement initiatives and efforts across
the milling locations within Mennel. This position will be required
to assemble and direct cross-functional project teams and
successfully interact and communicate will all levels in the
organization, both in the field and in the office. Implements
Mennel’s standards for construction, electrical hardware, sanitary
design, and installation. Evaluates and recommends improvements to
existing processes and facilities to improve plant performance
across the division. Exercises good financial stewardship for
Mennel when performing duties by adhering to established budget
guidelines and minimizing unnecessary expenses. Interacts and
collaborates with corporate and plant staff on new project
development and execution to ensure projects are delivered within
schedule and budget. The Engineering Manager will participate in a
broad range of project development and management duties, including
initial project concept and design, project scoping, creation of
technical drawings, technical report writing, project research and
development, proposal preparation and presentation, cost estimates,
and interaction with various contractors and third-party
engineering groups. The Engineering Manager will be expected to
work on several diverse and simultaneous projects while effectively
managing the progress on each one. Collaborates with other
corporate and plant resources to implement Mennel’s Management of
Change process for all projects that meet the requirement. Uses the
Mennel Corporate Mission, Quality, and Safety Statements as guiding
principles in the decision-making process. Directs and coordinates
project operations in accordance with established company policies
and procedures. Responsible for ensuring that any work completed is
done in a safe and clean manner so that all personnel safety, food
safety and housekeeping standards are met. Acts as a corporate
resource for members of the entire Operations team. This position
must have the ability to successfully work independently and must
be a self-starter. This position requires outstanding communication
skills. Must be technically sound and familiar with the technology,
equipment, and processes used within our industry. Stays up to date
on the latest trends in these areas. Required to communicate
frequently with the Corporate Engineering team and stay aligned
with the overall goals and objectives of the Operations Group.
Other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible
for the direction, management, and development of the engineering
department staff within the Milling division. QUALIFICATIONS: The
requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge,
skill, and/or ability required to perform this job. A college
degree from a 4-year institution in engineering or operations
management field is required. 6-10 years of progressive engineering
and/or operations experience in a manufacturing environment is
required. Must possess excellent leadership skills. Excellent
technical writing, speaking, and presentation skills. Must have
solid communication skills and be able to interact and productively
communicate with all levels of the organization. Must possess the
ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities. Must
be self-motivated, have initiative, and be able to effectively work
independently. Results-oriented. Must be hands-on and like to be
intimately involved with operations. Must have a strong work ethic.
Must be willing to be held accountable and to hold others
accountable. Possesses excellent critical thinking skills, as well
as a good understanding of process flow. Must exercise solid,
common-sense judgment when making decisions. Is always striving to
achieve “Operational Excellence”. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read
and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos,
procedures, and plans. Ability to write reports, complete
checklists and other basic documentation and correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information or data in one-on-one
and small group situations to co-workers, supervisors, and
managers. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply,
and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common
fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY: Must use solid judgment
when making decisions. Must have ability to quickly recognize and
plan for changing work duties and events. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The
physical demands described here are representative of those that

maintenance tasks, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance;

ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment

this job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
regularly exposed to conditions that are typical to a fast- paced
manufacturing environment, including: moving equipment and
machinery, dusty, hot/humid, and cold conditions; employee must be
willing to work in all weather conditions, at heights, and in the
presence of airborne particles. The noise level in the work
environment usually requires the use of hearing protection. Work
involves exposure to common wheat allergens.
