Lorain, located on Lake Erie, is a sought-after destination for Ohio nursing jobs, offering scenic parks, waterfront activities, and a welcoming community—ideal for travel nurses seeking both professional growth and lifestyle benefits. - Estimated Weekly Pay: $1570 - $1680 Travel Nursing Job Details - Location: Lorain, Ohio (zip 44053) – Northeast Ohio healthcare jobs - Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown – 33 beds - Shift: 12-hour nights - Hours per Week: 36 - Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 12/1/2025 – End: 2/28/2026) - Patient Ratios: 1:4-5 days, 1:5-6 nights (acuity dependent) - Patient Population: Cardiac Telemetry, Vascular, Med-Surg, Post Cath, Post Pacemakers - Ancillary Support: 1-3 PCAs, unit secretary, phlebotomy available - Scrubs: Navy blue Registered Nurse Qualifications - Active RN license in Ohio or compact state (required for Ohio nursing jobs) - Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience (required) - BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification (required) - Dysrhythmia Exam (required; study guide available) - Travel nursing experience not required - EPIC EHR experience (preferred) - Critical Care Course, CCRN, or PCCN certification (preferred for PCU nurse jobs) PCU Nurse Responsibilities - Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate outcomes - Administer medications and manage cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amio, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Lasix, Heparin, Insulin) - Monitor and manage lines, drains, and devices (PICC, dialysis catheters, PEG tubes, ostomies, foleys, chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vacs) - Provide advanced airway management (Trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, Heated High Flow, nasal cannulas) - Read and verify telemetry strips per shift using EPIC EHR - Serve as a patient safety advocate and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams - Educate patients and families, coordinate care, and support coping with illness or injury - Respond to rapidly changing patient conditions and medical emergencies - Maintain professionalism, self-care, privacy, and infection control standards Join our healthcare team in Lorain, Ohio, and discover rewarding travel nursing opportunities in a vibrant lakeside community.
