Job Description Job Description About the Role: The CT Tech -
PRN plays a critical role in delivering high-quality diagnostic
imaging services within a healthcare setting. This position is
responsible for performing computed tomography (CT) scans
accurately and efficiently to assist physicians in diagnosing and
treating patients. The role requires adherence to safety protocols
and patient care standards to ensure optimal imaging results while
minimizing radiation exposure. As a PRN (pro re nata) position, the
CT Tech must be adaptable and ready to provide coverage as needed,
often on short notice, supporting the healthcare team during peak
times or staff absences. Ultimately, this role contributes
significantly to patient outcomes by providing precise imaging that
informs clinical decisions. Minimum Qualifications: Completion of
an accredited Radiologic Technology program with a focus on CT
imaging. Current certification as a CT Technologist by the American
Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent. Valid
state licensure to perform radiologic procedures as required by the
healthcare facility. Demonstrated knowledge of CT imaging
protocols, radiation safety, and patient care standards. Ability to
work independently and adapt to variable scheduling demands
inherent in a PRN role. Preferred Qualifications: Experience
working in a hospital or outpatient imaging center environment.
Additional certifications in advanced imaging techniques or patient
care. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and
imaging software. Strong communication skills to effectively
interact with diverse patient populations and healthcare teams.
Basic life support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain.
Responsibilities: Operate CT imaging equipment to perform
diagnostic scans according to physician orders and established
protocols. Prepare patients for CT procedures by explaining the
process, positioning them correctly, and ensuring their comfort and
safety. Monitor and maintain imaging equipment, reporting any
malfunctions or issues to the appropriate technical staff. Maintain
accurate patient records and documentation related to imaging
procedures, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
Collaborate with radiologists, technologists, and other healthcare
professionals to ensure high-quality imaging and patient care.
Adhere strictly to radiation safety standards and infection control
policies to protect patients and staff. Provide coverage on an
as-needed basis, demonstrating flexibility in scheduling and
responsiveness to department needs. Skills: The CT Tech utilizes
technical skills daily to operate complex imaging machinery and
ensure high-quality diagnostic images are produced. Attention to
detail is essential when positioning patients and adjusting
equipment settings to capture precise images while minimizing
radiation exposure. Strong interpersonal skills are employed to
explain procedures clearly and compassionately to patients,
alleviating anxiety and ensuring cooperation. Organizational skills
are critical for maintaining accurate records and managing workflow
efficiently, especially in a flexible PRN schedule. Additionally,
problem-solving abilities are important for troubleshooting
equipment issues and adapting to the dynamic needs of the
healthcare environment.
