Position Summary According to established policies and procedures,
performs various clerical and record keeping tasks related to
registration, scheduling, and maternity statistic reporting.
Maintains patient charts in an accurate manner and maintains
adequate unit supplies. Responsibilities Greets patients in a
timely and courteous manner, presenting a positive, professional
appearance and attitude and demonstrating excellent interpersonal
skills. Prepares demographic, medical and insurance information by
direct interview of patients and/or families; enters all necessary
information into computer records; prepares complete and accurate
forms and other various materials for registration of all
inpatients and outpatients. Maintains the confidentiality of
information acquired through the performance of job duties.
Maintains work area in a professional and efficient manner, keeping
supplies and equipment in an orderly condition and submitting work
orders when necessary. Ensures patient chart packets are prepared,
and adequate forms and supplies are available in the nurse's
station. Accurately schedules ambulatory follow-up appointments for
patients. Ability to collect accurate information for birth
certificate completion, maternity statistical information, and
discharge planning. Practices acceptable universal precautions and
isolation techniques. Accurately flag charts for required
notification to providers and other staff. Responsible for ensuring
that personal performance reflects the LMHS Mission, Vision,
Standards of Behavior and Service Goals. Requirements Work requires
a high school level of knowledge to be able to read, write, perform
simple arithmetic calculations and deal effectively with people.
Basic analytical ability is required to gather and interpret data
in situations where the problems are not difficult or complex. Work
requires familiarity with various forms, insurance requirements,
medical terminology, Epic documentation and departmental
procedures, generally acquired through six months experience.
Ability to operate multi-line phone systems, fax machine, copiers,
and other office equipment. Must have exceptional interpersonal
skills to deal effectively with internal and external customers.
Must have aptitude and ability to prioritize and organize work
effectively, using discretion, initiative, and independent
judgement to follow through with assignments. Work requires the
ability to meet deadlines, accurately transcribe information and
work under minimal supervision. Must be able to maintain
flexibility by accepting and adjusting to rapid change in a
fast-paced environment. Maintain Health Care Provider CPR
Certification. Minimum requirement, high school diploma or GED.
Obtain Notary Public certification within 6 months of hire and
maintain certification thereafter. LMH is accredited by DNV and
TJC, and as such, may require specific annual education related to
specialty certifications and standards. Licking Memorial Health
