Scismic is supporting the growth of a health system organization Marietta, Ohio. This organization is comprised of a network of two hospitals, three emergency departments and outpatient service sites that work in innovative ways to meet the healthcare challenges of today, while preparing for the health needs of their communities in the future.They are seeking a Histology Coordinator to join the team!*JOB SUMMARY*In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Histology Coordinator is responsible for performing daily operations of histology laboratory and cytology preparation procedures as needed, on patient specimens submitted for the diagnoses of disease. The Histology Coordinator maintains specimen identity and integrity, produces high quality stained slides using standardized procedures to meet the Pathologists requirements for microscopic evaluation, and performs quality control and preventative maintenance according to established policy. In addition, the Histology Coordinator trains and performs competency assessments on employees as well as assisting supervisor with regulatory readiness. This position interacts with patient populations from neonate to elderly; with patients of all types of illnesses.*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*Essential functions are those tasks, duties and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the jobs purpose and objectives. Following are the essential functions of the job, along with the corresponding performance standards. Indicate how the employee performed relative to these standards by checking the appropriate boxes.* Duties associated with daily operation of the Histology Laboratory (assist w/frozen, gross of small specimens, immunohistochemistry, etc.) including coverage of staffing shortages.* Trains new employees and performs technical competency on all employees.* Competent in cytology (GYN and non-GYN) preparation procedures on patient specimens submitted for the diagnoses of disease.* Verifies billing for specimens sent out to a third party pathology source (i.e.: Neogenomics)* Assist supervisor with monthly QM data for Pathology Lab and the hospital.* Acts as the Key Operator on all equipment and Instrumentation and includes troubleshooting, replacement and validation.* Assist supervisor with regulatory compliance and College of American Pathologist inspection readiness as well as implementing new policies and procedures.* Assist supervisor assigning CAP surveys & scan into Media Lab for approval.* Performs high quality control and preventative maintenance according to established policy.* Reviews and signs all electronic document control records as assigned.* Works independently, organizing work to meet established deadlines.* Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.* Exhibits the company's Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.*JOB REQUIREMENTS **Minimum Education/Experience Required: ** Histotechnologist, Medical Laboratory Technologist, or an Associate of chemical or biological science required.* Completion of a laboratory training program approved by the ABHES, NAACLS, or other organization approved by HHS required.* National Board of Certification preferred. Board certified Histotechnologist (HT) or completion of certification within 1 year.* Minimum of 2 years experience required if not certified.*Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:** Must demonstrate knowledge of basic science skills, medical terminology, and technical proficiency in the histological techniques.* Troubleshoot with all levels of personnel.* The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit.*MISSION STATEMENT*The organization is comprised of not for profit hospitals where service excellence and clinical quality create the regions best experience for patients and their families, physicians, the community, and their employees.Job Type: Full-timePay: $74,984.00 per yearBenefits:* 401(k)* Health insurance* Paid time off* Vision insuranceSchedule:* Monday to FridayAbility to Relocate:* Marietta, OH: Relocate before starting work (Required)Work Location: In personby Jobble
