a full-time Emergency Preparedness Planner (35 hours per week,
Monday through Friday) to play a vital role in planning,
supporting, and responding to public health emergency preparedness
activities and incidents. This position is essential in
safeguarding our community's health and safety during emergencies,
disasters, and public health incidents. Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with local, regional, and state partners to maintain
Summit County Public Health's Emergency Operations Plans (EOP),
Summit County Public Health's Continuity of Operations Plans
(COOP), and other preparedness documents. Maintain familiarity with
the State of Ohio, NECO Region, Summit County, and Summit County
Public Health's Integrated Preparedness Plan (IIP). Maintain plan
by ensuring public health training, drills, and exercises align
with and are integrated into the jurisdiction's emergency
management system. Plan, conduct, and participate in emergency
preparedness trainings, drills, and exercises, ensuring compliance
with Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP)
standards. Develop After Action Reports (AARs) and Improvement
Plans (IPs) for incidents, drills, and exercises, tracking progress
on identified improvements. Ensure public health emergency
responses are NIMS-compliant and integrated into broader emergency
management systems. Support inventory management of emergency
preparedness equipment and supplies. Operation of agency pick up
truck and trailer (up to 24') is required. Promote a Whole
Community Approach to Emergency Management by designing response
and recovery activities that meet the needs of the community.
Support the logistical requirements to mobilize and maintain public
health operations on site or in the field and/or support and
augment public health / safety mutual aid requests within Summit
County, the NECO Region, or within the State of Ohio. Assist in
executing grant deliverables and participate in SCPH and community
emergency preparedness initiatives. Be available during routine and
non-routine hours of operation, including 24/7/365 availability.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management,
Emergency Preparedness, Public Health, Public Administration,
Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, general science or a
related field. Knowledge of applicable guidance documents,
including but not limited to the Public Health Emergency
Preparedness and Response Capabilities: National Standards for
State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial Public Health; the National
Response Framework, Comprehensive Preparedness Guide 101, and
Continuity Guidance Circular. Completion of FEMA courses IS-100.C,
IS-200.C, and IS-700.B Strong skills in technical writing, public
speaking, and working independently and collaboratively. Valid Ohio
driver's license, automobile availability, and insurance coverage.
